Psychologist: Teacher-parent synergy helps accelerate development of children with special needs
Collaboration between schools and families is very important in supporting the growth and development of children with special needs. By sharing information about a child’s habits, it becomes easier for teachers to provide learning and guidance.
Tangerang (ANTARA) - A psychologist from the Tangerang City Family Learning Centre (Puspaga), Glori Telis Amanta, said that teachers and parents have an important role in understanding the character, needs, and acceleration of development of children with special needs (ABK).
She said teachers not only play a role in the learning process at school, but also become strategic partners for parents. Likewise, parents can share information about their child’s development with teachers in order to provide support that suits each child’s needs.
“Collaboration between schools and families is very important in supporting the growth and development of children with special needs. By sharing information about a child’s habits, it becomes easier for teachers to provide learning and guidance,” said Glori in Tangerang on Thursday.
She explained that this synergy is expected to create continuity between the support provided at school and at home.
“With good communication, the various challenges faced by children can be identified and addressed more precisely,” she added.
Puspaga Tangerang City, she continued, also provides assistance to educators so that they have the understanding and skills to build positive communication with parents of children with special needs.
“Continuous collaboration between teachers and families is expected to create an inclusive, safe educational environment that supports every child to grow and develop optimally according to their respective abilities and needs,” said Glori.
Meanwhile, the Tangerang City Government continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a safe and comfortable school culture through cross-sector collaboration.
“We are also providing support for the development of student talent, which continues to be strengthened through various inclusive education programmes and spaces for student self-actualisation,” said Head of the Tangerang City Education Office, Wahyudi Iskandar.
