Sexual violence cases in educational environments continue to recur, raising significant questions in society. This issue does not arise suddenly but is shaped by how children are raised and the environments influencing them from a young age. Psychologist from Ibunda.id, Danti Wulan Manunggal, S.Psi., stated that such behaviour cannot be explained by a single cause. In an interview with Kompas.com on Tuesday (14/4/2026), Danti explained that the root problems are interconnected and often unnoticed from the outset. In many cases, several key factors contribute to the causes. One of them is the sense that one’s own self is more important than others. Boys accustomed to having their desires fulfilled can grow up with such a perspective. This condition leads to viewing others not as individuals who must be respected. Many boys are taught that they must be strong, dominant, and not show emotions. This mindset can make them feel the need to demonstrate power. In some cases, this can manifest as behaviour that harms others. Children not taught to understand others’ feelings will struggle to realise the impact of their actions. Danti emphasised that empathy must be taught from an early age. Without empathy, a person may not realise that their actions hurt others.
