PSSI youth cup to begin Sunday

JAKARTA: The Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) will kick off on Sunday its Suratin Cup -- an under-15 and under-18 national soccer championship.

The Bogasari-sponsored, six-region competition will run until Aug. 20, with 27 teams in the U-15 and 71 U-18 teams competing for Rp 200 million in cash prizes.

Matches will be held in North Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java, Bangka Belitung, South Sulawesi and North Sulawesi.

"The competition will be scouted for new talents. We want to include these young potential players in our under-20 national team," said Subardi, PSSI head of development affairs. -- JP
