PSN, Telkom sign deal on satellite service
JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) signed a satellite-based service agreement yesterday with its parent firm state-owned domestic telecommunications operator PT Telkom.
Under the agreement, which was signed by PSN's president Adi Rahman Adiwoso and Telkom's president Asman A. Nasution in Bandung, West Java, Telkom may use the Xpress Connection -- served by PSN -- to develop telecommunications facilities in the country's major towns and villages.
In addition to Telkom, five private Telkom partners holding 15-year telecommunications concessions will also be able to use the Xpress Connection, a small, economical, lightweight and easy- to-install terminal developed by PSN and Titan Corporation.
PSN which is listed on the Nasdaq capital market in the United States expects 5,000 terminals to be in operation one year after full commercial services commence later this year. (icn)
