PSMS, Persik into Bang Yos Cup final

JAKARTA: Host Persija Jakarta's bid to make the final of the Rp 830 million Bang Yos Gold Cup was quashed in a 1-2 loss to PSIS Semarang in the last round-robin matches on Thursday.

In other matches of the six-team event, defending champion PSMS Medan routed the Cambodian under 23 national team 9-0 to book a place in the final.

It will meet Persik Kediri, which lost 0-3 to Osotspa FC of Thailand after securing its final spot earlier in the week.

The final will be held in Lebak Bulus Stadium, South Jakarta, at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

PSIS went ahead in the 70th minute through Maman Abdurrahman, with Wandersen increasing the lead 18 minutes later. In the final minute of play, Charles Ishorik scored a consolation goal for Persija.

After the completion of round robin matches, Persik and PSMS were tied on 10 points with three wins, one draw and one defeat.

PSIS, with eight points, was third, while Persija was fourth with seven points. -- JP
