PSMS Medan keeps Bang Yos Cup

JAKARTA: Chilean striker Aldicidio Fleitas scored twice in the space of 15 minutes as defending champion PSMS Medan retained its crown in the Bang Yos Gold Cup on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Persik Kediri.

Fleitas opened up the scoring for the North Sumatra team in the 29th minute, followed by another goal a minute before half time at Lebak Bulus Stadium, South Jakarta.

Persik closed the gap through Christian Gonzales in the 62nd minute but missed several opportunities to equalize in the final minutes.

PSMS is already looking to better results in next year's Indonesian League championships, manager Randiman said.

"We hope for better results in the league next season. Last season, we were only able to reach the last four," he told Antara news service

PSMS won Rp 250 million (about US$25,000), with Persik taking home Rp 175 million. -- JP
