PSM seeks foreign coach for 2002
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: PSM Makassar, the 2001 national soccer runner-up in the club championship, is seeking a foreign coach for its campaign in next season's Indonesian Soccer League, which will kick off on Jan. 13, 2002.
Reza Ali, the club's head, said that they would be looking for a coach either from Croatia or South Korea and have assigned Erwin Aksa Mahmud, the vice president of a local cement producer PT Semen Bosowa, to take charge of the search.
"I have been in contact with a number of foreign business partners these days. They gave us good responses and offered a number of names, but we can't decide our choice as yet before we know the real quality," Erwin said.
He said that several candidates from Korea would arrive in Makassar next week to exhibit their training expertise and coaching program.
The club has also recruited striker Ariel Guterez from PSMS Medan for an undisclosed transfer amount. The Chilean will sign with his new team on Monday. -- JP
