PSM beats Gelora Putra 1-0

JAKARTA (JP): Defending champion PSM Makassar managed a narrow
1-0 win over host Gelora Putra Delta in the first round of the
Bank Mandiri national soccer league at Delta stadium in Sidoarjo,
East Java, on Wednesday.

National striker Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto produced the single
goal 30 minutes into the first half through a long pass in a
heavy downpour, Antara reported.

In Padang, West Sumatra, host Semen Padang blanked Persijatim
of East Jakarta 7-0 at Haji Agus Salim stadium here.

Suwarno opened the shooting spree in the 37th minute and
repeated it again in the 44th minute. Purwanto produced four
goals in the 48th, 68th, 82nd and 88th minutes and Ellie Aiboy
