PSI's Message to Parties Anxious About Jokowi's Blusukan: Don't Worry

The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has told other political parties that previously criticised former President Joko Widodo’s plan to visit the regions not to worry. DPP PSI Chairman Bestari Barus stated that Jokowi’s visits are purely to fulfil invitations from the community. “This is purely a party activity and fulfilling invitations from the public. That’s how it is. There is no need for concern from those who have voiced it. So don’t worry, it’s safe,” Bestari said via telephone on Thursday. Bestari also criticised those commenting on Jokowi’s planned visits. According to him, the plan is legitimate and protected by law. Bestari called on all parties to be mature in politics, particularly in respecting the right to assemble and maintain ties for all citizens. “If there are politicians, lawmakers, who then make skewed statements like that, we need to question whether they received education from their party. Whether they received sufficient education from their party,” he said. The issue of Jokowi visiting several regions has recently become a topic of discussion. Over the next three days, Jokowi is scheduled to attend PSI events and invitations from volunteers and the community in Lampung. On the first day, Friday, Jokowi will attend a PSI Regional Coordination Meeting in Mesuji. He is then scheduled to attend a PSI Regional Coordination Meeting in Tulang Bawang, followed by the Gajah Cultural Carnival Parade. The following day, Saturday, Jokowi will meet with traditional leaders of Lampung. He will also have activities at the Transmigration Museum and Bagelen Village, as well as visiting MSMEs in Maliosewu and attending a volunteer event. On the third day, Sunday, he is scheduled to attend a cultural parade, meet with MSMEs, and visit the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School.
