PSI's Bestari Hits Back at Deddy Sitorus' 'Flea' Jibe: He's a Bedbug

PSI DPP Chairman Bestari Barus is incensed after PDIP DPP Chairman Deddy Sitorus made references to ‘fleas’ and ‘fearlessly defending those who pay’. Bestari hit back by calling Deddy Sitorus a bedbug.

Bestari was initially surprised that Deddy Sitorus responded to his attempt to offer understanding by invoking the term ‘flea’. He was shocked because Deddy Sitorus brought up the flea analogy.

‘Yes, I think it was not classy. I mean, I was surprised he responded like that, his response was weak. He used the word flea, a jumping flea. If joining a party is recognised as a private right, he should not need to utter the word flea,’ Bestari said when contacted on Saturday (20/6/2026).

Bestari said Deddy was actually confirming himself as a bedbug. According to him, Deddy is staying put in PDIP while gnawing away at the party.

‘Because without realising it, he is saying that he is a bedbug. Because bedbugs tend to stay put and gnaw at the place where they are, that’s roughly how it is. But Deddy is not that clever about such things,’ he said.

Furthermore, Bestari also mentioned that the country is losing money by paying Deddy Sitorus’ salary given his mindset. He asserted that Deddy Sitorus’ statement was empty.

‘He is very emotional when it comes to Mr Jokowi and PSI. Maybe that’s it. So I think it is a waste for the country to pay him as a member of the DPR if that is the only quality of words he is able to deliver. That’s it, empty,’ he said.

He also responded to being accused of fearlessly defending those who pay. He stated that it is actually Deddy Sitorus who is paid by the people.

‘The one paid by the people is him, not me. Using the people’s money, including perhaps one or two rupiah from the tax money I pay. But if the class of narrative he possesses is only that and it becomes a source of pride for him, ah, that’s what I often call high self-confidence but low intellect,’ he asserted.
