JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bestari Barus, Chairman of the Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), said the party has passed a message to former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to publicly state that he is no longer affiliated with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). Jokowi is set to tour Indonesia for PSI and Projo. “When meeting with PSI, we have asked him to convey that he is no longer with PDI-P. This way, Jokowi’s supporters will remain steadfast with us moving forward,” Bestari told Kompas.com on Sunday (31 May 2026). Regarding PDI-P’s claim that Jokowi’s visits will strengthen their party, Bestari dismissed it. He also claimed PSI is not attempting to exert any influence by organising Jokowi’s tour. “Regarding upcoming invitations from various regions, we just need to adjust the schedules to meet with people who miss him and who previously benefited from his work,” he explained. “If they say there’s no influence, that’s not true. We’re not trying to create influence; it’s just their sentimental feelings,” Bestari added. Previously reported, Jokowi stated he has recovered and is ready to attend various invitations from different regions. “Yes, I have many invitations from regions for public appearances. I’m healthy and will attend them,” Jokowi said at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java, on Monday (24 May 2026). PSI said Jokowi will soon visit several regions, including Lampung, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and West Java. According to PSI, in addition to meeting the public, Jokowi is scheduled to meet PSI officials and volunteers in the regions. “Insha’Allah, he will also visit PSI structures in the regions. It’s mentioned he will also meet volunteers,” Bestari said.
