PSI Praises Public Trust in Police Rising to 82.4%: 'Getting Better'

Ketua Harian DPP Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) Ahmad Ali has praised the increase in public trust in the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to 82.4 percent, based on a survey by Litbang Kompas. Ali stated that the police’s service to the public is now significantly better. “We must thank the National Police Chief and the entire police force because today we received news that public perception of the police has risen quite well and significantly since October 2025,” Ali told reporters on Sunday (28/6/2026). He noted that the National Police Chief understands the criticism from the public and has used it as a basis for institutional improvement. Ali expressed his appreciation to Polri for this achievement. “The service provided by the police to the community is getting better, meaning that the police, especially the National Police Chief, are aware and truly understand the public’s criticism of the police and have subsequently made improvements. Today, we give extraordinary appreciation for that achievement,” he said. Ali congratulated the force on the achievement and expressed hope that the police’s performance will continue to improve and become more professional. “Congratulations to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on the significant increase in public trust in Polri. This achievement is proof that hard work, dedication, and commitment to maintaining security and serving the community have received widespread appreciation,” Ali said. “May Polri continue to become an institution that is increasingly professional, modern, and trusted by the people, and always be at the forefront of safeguarding national unity and stability under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto,” he added. The Litbang Kompas survey was conducted from 9 to 18 April 2026 and was reviewed on Friday (26/6). The method used was face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents. Sampling was carried out randomly using a multistage systematic sampling method across 38 provinces. The survey has a margin of error of 2.83 percent with a 95 percent confidence level. Respondents were asked: In general, are you confident or not that Polri’s performance will improve in the future? The results showed 82.4 percent of respondents answered confident, 12.1 percent answered not confident, and 5.5 percent answered they did not know. The Litbang Kompas survey results indicate that public trust in Polri has risen significantly to 82.4 percent. Previously, in 2025, the level of public trust in the police stood at 76.2 percent. The survey states that the public is confident the Polri institution can improve in the future.
