PSI Opens Up About Jokowi's Delayed Announcement as Board Member

Wakil Ketua Umum DPP Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Isyana Bagoes Oka, has stated that the announcement of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, within the party structure is pending until everything is ready. Jokowi has recently been widely rumoured to be taking the position of Chair of the PSI Board of Trustees. “We are just waiting for it to be ready,” Isyana said when met after a charity event for orphans and the underprivileged at the PSI headquarters in Central Jakarta on Tuesday evening.

On the occasion, Isyana also responded to Jokowi’s visits to several regions, which have been labelled as part of a political safari ahead of his official announcement at PSI. Isyana explained that these visits are not a political safari, but rather simply fulfilling invitations from various parties. She noted that this is being done considering Jokowi’s health condition has improved. “Actually, this is not a political safari. This is more about, as Mr Jokowi has conveyed, fulfilling invitations from the community, including activities at the Indonesian Solidarity Party,” Isyana clarified.

She emphasised that the various agendas Jokowi will attend are part of invitations from the public and various other groups. “But this is how, as Mr Jokowi has conveyed, these are invitations from the communities and Mr Jokowi, as he has said, his condition is now healthy and he can once again fulfil the invitations from the entire community,” she said. Isyana mentioned that PSI is currently still focused on managing all internal party matters, including administration and the formation of structures. “At the moment, PSI is focusing on forming the structure, because as is known, the existing rules require us to follow factual verification, administrative verification and factual verification. That is the current focus,” Isyana stated.
