PSI on Jokowi's Visits: Not a Political Safari, but Fulfilling Invitations
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has stated that the visits by Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to several regions are not a political safari, but rather to fulfil invitations from various parties. “Actually, this is not a political safari. It is more about how, as Pak Jokowi has conveyed, he is fulfilling invitations from the community, including activities at the Indonesian Solidarity Party,” said PSI Central Executive Board Deputy Chair Isyana Bagoes Oka after an event for orphans and the underprivileged at the PSI headquarters in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (16/6).
Isyana emphasised that the regional visits are part of fulfilling community invitations. Moreover, she noted that Jokowi is currently in good health. “Pak Jokowi has conveyed that this is part of his plan to fulfil invitations because his condition is now healthy,” she added.
When asked to confirm reports that Jokowi would become the Chair of the PSI Advisory Board, Isyana asked the public to wait for the right moment. “Let’s just wait until it’s ready,” she said. Previously, it was reported that Jokowi would begin his political safari this month, with Lampung Province as his first destination for a three-day visit. Jokowi is scheduled to be in Lampung from 26 to 28 June 2026, visiting several regencies and cities in the region. Relly Reagen, Chairman of the Nusantara Brigade Volunteers (BRN), stated that his organisation, together with PSI, is the organiser of this political safari and confirmed that all permits have been completed. “Preparations are mature, location permits are ready. It’s about 80 percent complete,” said Relly after meeting Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Monday (15/6).
