PSI Leak on New Cadres from 'Neighbouring Party'
Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Deputy Chairman Bestari Barus has revealed that several more individuals will join the party under the leadership of Kaesang Pangarep. Who are they?
“Well, I can’t possibly say (from which party), but I’ve already hinted that Rusdi Masse is just one of 15 to 20 more,” said Bestari Barus when contacted on Thursday (15/4/2026).
Bestari stated that around 15 to 20 people will join PSI. He revealed that many parties are interested in PSI.
The former NasDem politician even said they are just waiting for the right time to join. So who are these 20 people? Bestari still refused to reveal them, fearing that if disclosed now, they would be sacked from their current parties.
“But I’ve hinted that, Grace also said that, yes, like that. But we can’t just reveal it, it would be a pity if they get sacked from there,” said Bestari.
“The ones who have already joined, Rusdi Masse is one. Right? There are many, lots of them. Already, you know, many have stated they will join. But of course at the right time,” he added.
He views the movement of politicians from one party to another as a normal occurrence. He said it is reasonable, especially during the election transition period.
“And that’s just normal, because politician transfers happen at those times, right? During campaign seasons, it’s normal. This one moves there, that one moves here, moves there, that’s normal,” he said.
Bestari Barus hopes that Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will also join PSI. He believes Jokowi’s presence would bring a multiplier effect for PSI.
He mentioned that the approval from the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka remains high.
“And we hope Pak Jokowi will join soon. And bring a multiplier effect. Jokowi’s multiplier effect for PSI, right? Because, you know, his approval rating is still high. Still, wow, extraordinary. Hopefully, the success we aim for can truly be realised,” he added.
Previously, PSI Board of Trustees Secretary Grace Natalie revealed that many cadres outside the party are interested in joining PSI. She said the number continues to grow along with the formation of the party’s structure from village to regional levels.
“Many, many and continuing to join, the problem is the number keeps moving,” said Grace Natalie to reporters during the PSI Konsinyering event at a hotel in the Slipi area, West Jakarta, on Sunday (12/4).
