PSI: Jokowi Asks Supporters to Back Prabowo-Gibran for Two Terms
Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP Chairman Bestari Barus has stated that Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked his party and sympathisers to safeguard the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Bestari dismissed speculation of a ‘twin sun’ scenario following Jokowi’s plan to travel around Indonesia.
‘He told us that we were asked to support Mr Prabowo-Gibran, even, even for two terms. So there is no slander about there being two suns. How can there be two suns? It’s nonsense,’ Bestari told reporters on Friday (18/6/2026).
Bestari revealed the message came during a meeting with Kaesang Pangarep’s father in Solo on Thursday morning (18/6). Bestari said Jokowi reminded them to maintain internal harmony and support the ongoing Prabowo-Gibran administration.
‘He also entrusted me with a message to maintain internal harmony. And also to remind friends everywhere to support the Prabowo-Gibran pair, what other sun could there be,’ he said.
Bestari also commented on Didit Prabowo’s visit to Jokowi’s residence in Solo. He expressed admiration for Didit upholding proper etiquette towards elders.
‘This means Mas Didit sees that his father, President Prabowo, has a very good relationship with Mr Jokowi, so his presence there is a marker that the etiquette of socialising with elders, especially a close friend of his father, is highly valued by Mas Didit. It is extraordinary,’ he said.
He assessed that Didit’s presence at Jokowi’s home reflects the harmonious relationship between the former president and his father. He welcomed the friendly ties fostered by Didit.
‘Yes, I think Mas Didit is a mature young man. And he really maintains proper etiquette in socialising with elders, so while in Solo he took the time to stop by Mr Jokowi’s place,’ said Bestari Barus.
‘And I am sure this is the result of his consistent understanding of the good relationship between Mr Prabowo, his father, and Mr Jokowi. After all, maintaining friendly ties prolongs life. I salute Mas Didit for this,’ he added.
