Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, has invited all national figures to jointly build a soothing narrative and strengthen public confidence. According to him, amid conditions where society requires certainty, leaders should present themselves as part of the solution. “Indonesia today does not need political manoeuvres to weaken each other. What is needed is unity and cooperation, shoulder to shoulder with the people to overcome various challenges,” said Kaesang in his statement in Jakarta on Monday. The statement was delivered by Kaesang in response to the open criticism voiced by the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, towards the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. Kaesang affirmed that criticism is a normal matter and an important part of democracy. Nevertheless, he regretted it if criticism is conveyed in a manner that has the potential to muddy the situation. “In democracy, criticism is commonplace. But what we need now is a calming atmosphere, not statements that can cause uproar,” said Kaesang.
