PSI Holds Easter Celebration, Grace Natalie Discusses Commitment to Nurturing Tolerance
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) held an Easter celebration at Balai Sarbini in Jakarta. PSI Board of Patrons Secretary Grace Natalie highlighted the importance of maintaining and nurturing tolerance in national life.
“Tolerance in PSI is something we live by, nurture, and celebrate together. Amen, and may this—it’s not just a hope, but a commitment that PSI has upheld from the beginning—to fight for tolerance,” said Grace Natalie in her remarks on Thursday (7/4/2026).
She gave an example that during the Lebaran celebration, the organising committee was not only from the Muslim community but also involved cadres from various religious backgrounds.
Grace Natalie also touched on the involvement of groups often labelled as minorities in political contests through PSI. She noted that more than 50 percent of the cadres facilitated to run as legislative candidates come from such groups.
“After they become council members, they report their performance regularly. And even in some places, within one faction, I received updates that they are advocating for and passing tolerance-related regional regulations in their respective areas,” she revealed.
“I know that politics is not something everyone wants to touch. It can be a bit scary and frightening, perhaps, especially with the recent news, we might have mixed reviews about politics,” she continued.
Furthermore, Grace also pointed out ongoing obstacles in conducting worship in several regions. She hoped there would be no more restrictions that hinder people from worshipping.
“We hope that in the future, there will be no need for permits for religious gatherings,” she stated.
“May more of God’s children in service be called to the political path, become legislators, become regional heads, who fight for tolerance not only inside church buildings but in society, because that is our true service,” she added.
