Jakarta – Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Grace Natalie, has urged that the leadership transition process at Bank Indonesia (BI) proceed in accordance with the constitution and statutory provisions.

Grace considers an orderly and credible transition process important for maintaining the trust of the public, businesses, and investors in the Indonesian economy.

“The market has already given an initial signal of confidence in this transition process. Now our shared task is to ensure that confidence is answered with a constitutional process and a guarantee that the independence of Bank Indonesia remains a non-negotiable principle,” said Grace on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

According to Grace, coordination between BI and the government remains necessary to maintain economic stability while supporting national growth. However, that coordination must remain within the respective authorities of each institution.

“Synergy between BI and the government is important for maintaining stability while encouraging economic growth. But synergy must not be interpreted as subordination. Bank Indonesia must remain independent in carrying out its mandate and making its monetary decisions,” said Grace.

She considers credible BI leadership to be one of the important factors in maintaining confidence in the Indonesian economy, especially amid global economic dynamics.

Grace also invited all parties to respect the ongoing process and give space to the DPR to exercise its authority in accordance with the rules.

“What we must safeguard is not only who leads BI, but the strength of its institution. Leadership may change, but the independence, credibility, and trust in Bank Indonesia must be maintained,” said Grace.
