PSI Dispatches 10,800 Homebound Travellers on 200 Buses to Various Towns Across Java
PSI General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep officially saw off free homebound travellers as part of the party’s programme. A total of 10,800 homebound travellers were dispatched to various regions across Java Island.
The PSI free homecoming send-off took place at the GBK complex in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March 2026. Kaesang led the send-off ceremony directly, accompanied by his wife, Erina Gudono.
PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni stated that the 2026 Mudik Asyik PSI programme dispatched approximately 10,800 homebound travellers to various towns across Java Island. In total, approximately 200 buses were provided.
“Alhamdulillah, today our General Chairman, Kaesang Pangarep, Chairman of the PSI National Board, officially sent off the 2026 Mudik Asyik PSI. According to the organising committee, 200 buses have been prepared here, carrying approximately 10,800 passengers to various towns across Java,” Raja Juli said at the venue.
Raja Juli stated that the programme represented PSI’s commitment to helping society celebrate Eid al-Fitr joyfully. According to him, the homecoming tradition is not merely a journey back to one’s village, but also carries broader social significance.
“The aim is for PSI to genuinely desire an atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr that is joyful and happy, and one of Indonesia’s good traditions is homecoming,” he said.
“Homecoming is not merely physical movement from the city to the village, but it is also about familial ties. It is also part of wealth distribution from the capital to villages, and of course will later foster new spirit to work in the capital once Eid is over,” he added.
Furthermore, Raja Juli explained that the first bus departing to Solo did not hold particular symbolic meaning. He stated that the order of bus departures was determined by the organising committee.
“No, no (it doesn’t have special meaning). The committee just had Solo as the first bus in the queue. So it’s not something deliberate. Because one of the destinations with the most travellers is Solo, so those passengers were sent off first,” he explained.
