PSI Deputy Chairman Bro Ron on Reasons for Peace in Assault Case: Pure Miscommunication
The assault case involving PSI Deputy Chairman Ronald A. Sinaga, alias Bro Ron, in Menteng, Central Jakarta, has ended peacefully. Ronald revealed that the reason for the settlement was purely due to miscommunication.
“Here, we have concluded that we are all brothers. What happened on the ground can be said to be 100 percent miscommunication after knowing the sequence of events—why we were there, why there was Bang Randi, why there was Bang Ical. Oh, it turns out, it turns out we were there not to be hostile. Pure miscommunication,” Ronald told reporters at the Menteng Metro Police Station on Thursday (7/5/2026).
He emphasised that the matter has been resolved. He also apologised to the public after the case caused a stir.
“So not there to be hostile, not there to argue, indeed there was miscommunication. If there are any unpleasant things we said or that the public saw from this incident, I apologise. Sorry for making it noisy, when it turns out it didn’t need to happen,” he explained.
Ronald said the restorative justice approach was taken after he learned the details from discussions with the family and team.
“We decided to pursue restorative justice. I made this decision for restorative justice because I already know the details from the family’s discussions with our team,” he stated.
M. Rizal Berhet’s lawyer, Abubakar Refra, said the context of the issue had gone through a long meeting with Ronald’s side. He said the case had created public dynamics.
“And we examined it thoroughly, and we really examined it, and in the end, one conclusion is that there was miscommunication, misunderstanding, and so on,” Abubakar said.
He said based on that, both parties agreed to end the case through restorative justice.
“On that basis, for the sake of our togetherness despite differences, we agreed to end this by submitting RJ (restorative justice) to the Menteng Metro Police Station, which has the authority to handle this case, and alhamdulillah, everything is being processed,” he concluded.
The Background of the Bro Ron Assault
Head of Public Relations at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, explained that the assault incident occurred on Monday (4/5) at 4:22 PM WIB. Initially, Ronald came with 15 employees of PT SKS to hold an audience at the MPP law firm regarding unpaid employee wages.
“Because the audience could not meet with the MPP party as the one being demonstrated against, the Menteng Metro Police Station took the initiative to hold mediation at the Menteng Metro Police Station office,” Erlyn explained on Tuesday (5/5).
She said the audience at the location initially proceeded safely and conducively with police accompaniment. However, a group of unidentified people then appeared and, without clear reason, carried out intimidation and obstructed the audience process.
“As a result of the actions of that group, the situation heated up and an altercation arose until the victim received punches from that group,” Erlyn clarified.
“Then, officers separated the victim and the suspects and secured them to be brought to the Menteng Metro Police Station for further examination,” she added.
