The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has denied that former President Joko Widodo’s visits to various regions are part of a political safari. PSI Deputy Chairperson Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka stated that Jokowi travelled to fulfil invitations from the public. “As Pak Jokowi has conveyed, he is fulfilling a number of invitations from the community, including activities within the Indonesian Solidarity Party,” Isyana said at the PSI headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday. Jokowi previously asserted that he is in good health and can attend various activities, including fulfilling public invitations. Regarding Jokowi’s position within PSI, the party led by his son Kaesang Pangarep, Isyana said she could not yet provide further details. “We’ll just wait,” she remarked. She noted that PSI is currently focused on forming and strengthening its structure to prepare for administrative and factual verification in 2027 ahead of the 2029 election. The potential affiliation of the seventh president with PSI is considered a factor that could alter the political landscape leading up to the 2029 polls. Jokowi is scheduled to begin a nationwide tour with a visit to Lampung Province on 26 June 2026. The plan has drawn a cynical response from PDI Perjuangan politician Mohamad Guntur Romli, who assessed it would have no political impact.
