PSI Confirms It Will Reject Budi Arie Joining as Member
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has confirmed it will reject Projo chairman Budi Arie Setiadi if he registers as a member. This follows the discourse on changing the government mid-term that Budi Arie has been promoting.
“Party membership is not merely an administrative matter, but concerns the alignment of values and track record. Considering these two aspects, Budi Arie’s place is certainly not in PSI,” asserted PSI Central Executive Board chairman Dedek Prayudi on Wednesday (26/8) in a press release received by Media Indonesia in Solo.
Dedek considers the idea of replacing the government mid-term to be the product of people with too much time on their hands.
PSI, he continued, firmly rejects the discourse of changing the government mid-term as raised by Budi Arie.
“A president who has been elected through a democratic process must be given the opportunity to serve until the end of their term,” he added.
Therefore, PSI once again assesses that Budi Arie’s statement regarding the possibility of changing the government midway is the product of idle minds and does not align with the basic principles of the party bearing the elephant logo.
“If there are fundamental differences, then there is no need to join,” Dedek stated bluntly.
The PSI Central Executive Board had checked with its ranks, from the provincial, district and branch executive boards. All agreed to reject Budi Arie if he wished to join PSI. They do not want their party to become a stopover for political adventurers opportunistically seeking the stage of power.
