Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Board of Trustees, Grace Natalie, has boasted that East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will become an ‘elephant stronghold’, referring to the party’s new logo. Grace quoted a statement by PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep regarding the party’s political base, aiming to turn Central Java, traditionally a stronghold of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) or ‘bull stronghold’, into an ‘elephant stronghold’. “Yesterday, the Chairman said Central Java is an elephant stronghold. But NTT should also be able to become an elephant stronghold. There will be many baby elephants here,” she said during a PSI coordination meeting in Surabaya on Friday (12/6/2026). According to Grace, the agenda of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo to tour Indonesia, starting from NTT, will have a significant impact on PSI. “If there are no obstacles or hindrances, the plan is for Mr Jokowi to come and greet the people of NTT next month,” said Grace. “So, he is very fond of NTT, and after not travelling around post-presidency for a long time, one of the places he will visit is NTT,” she added. Grace mentioned that the schedule for Jokowi’s visit is still being arranged. Kupang Mayor Christian Widodo will meet directly with Jokowi to finalise the plans in NTT. “The agenda is currently being compiled, which is why Bro Chris will meet with him soon to discuss directly and finalise the plans in NTT,” Grace concluded.
