PSI Boasts NTT Will Become an 'Elephant Stronghold'

The Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Grace Natalie, has asserted that East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will become an ‘elephant stronghold’, referring to PSI’s new symbol. Grace cited a statement by PSI General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep regarding the party’s political base, specifically the ambition to transform Central Java—traditionally a stronghold for the PDIP ‘bull’—into an ‘elephant’ territory.

“Yesterday, the General Chairman said Central Java is an elephant stronghold. But NTT should also be able to become an elephant stronghold. There will be many ‘elephant children’ here later,” she stated during the PSI Special Coordination Meeting in Kupang on Friday (12/06/2026).

According to Grace, the agenda of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to tour Indonesia, starting from NTT, will have a significant impact on PSI. “If there are no obstacles or hurdles, Mr Jokowi plans to visit and greet the people in NTT next month,” said Grace.

“He truly cares for NTT, and as part of his post-presidency travels, one of the places he will visit is NTT,” she added.

Grace noted that Jokowi’s visit agenda is still being finalised. The Mayor of Kupang, Christian Widodo, is set to meet directly with Jokowi to finalise the plans for NTT.

“The agenda is currently being organised; therefore, Bro Chris will meet with him in the near future to discuss and finalise the plans for NTT,” concluded Grace.
