PSI Announces Comedian Narji Has Officially Joined the Party: 'We Are Very Pleased'

The chairman of the PSI Central Executive Board, Bestari Barus, has confirmed that comedian Narji has officially joined his party. Narji was previously a cadre of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). “Yes, he has joined PSI. Last Sunday, on the 5th, there was a mass circumcision event organised by the PSI Banten Regional Executive Board. On that occasion, Bung Narji was present and declared he was joining, and a symbolic jacket presentation was carried out there,” Bestari told reporters on Wednesday (8/7/2026). Bestari stated that Narji’s decision to join PSI was his political right. He welcomed Narji’s presence in the party led by Kaesang Pangarep. “I think being in or not being in a political party is purely a private right. Especially if one joins a political party that aligns with oneself, that is also a private right,” Bestari said. “So, of course, Narji has his own reasons. Please ask Narji directly, and we are very pleased with Narji joining, as it further strengthens our campaign ranks for PSI’s 2029 election bid. I think that’s all,” he added. Bestari mentioned that every cadre will receive specific assignments from the party, noting that discussions regarding the management structure will follow. “Hopefully, responsibilities will be delegated to Bung Narji in due time. In time, all cadres will receive assignments. Today he has just joined. Let’s wait a little while,” he stated.
