Rising education costs that continue to outpace inflation are pushing families to plan their finances early. In this climate, PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Syariah) has launched PRUTahapan Cemerlang, a traditional dual-purpose Sharia life insurance product. The product is designed to help families build funds for their children’s education up to tertiary level, while also supporting other long-term financial planning. Prudential Syariah states the product is part of the company’s strategy to broaden Sharia-based protection solutions for Indonesian families. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) shows education costs have risen in recent years. Average primary school costs rose by 90 percent from Rp 2.4 million in 2018 to Rp 4.56 million in 2024. Meanwhile, tertiary education costs increased by 31.38 percent to Rp 19.01 million per academic year in 2024. “Every parent wants the best education for their child, but the reality is education costs continue to rise faster than inflation. PRUTahapan Cemerlang is designed to bridge this gap, ensuring funds are available on time at every education level,” Iskandar said in a press release on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. He added that financial protection is important because life risks can threaten the sustainability of a family’s education plans. “If a life risk affects the breadwinner mid-way, the education plan is not halted,” he said. The funds secured can be used for a range of needs, from primary and secondary education costs to university tuition, and even business capital. The company offers two plan options in the product, namely Plan PRO and Plan MAX. Plan PRO provides life protection with cover up to age 55. Plan MAX offers additional non-contributory benefits should the participant experience a terminal critical condition.
