Prudential Syariah distributes 14 sacrificial cattle for Eid al-Adha to 2,000 beneficiaries
JAKARTA – The distribution of sacrificial meat remains a challenge amid persistent gaps in access to nutritious food across several Indonesian regions.
Data from PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Syariah) shows Indonesia’s per capita beef consumption remains low at approximately 2.77 kilograms per year.
Additionally, 81 districts and cities remain vulnerable to food insecurity.
For Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriyah, Prudential Syariah distributed 14 sacrificial cattle to 14 vulnerable communities.
The initiative aims to reach approximately 2,000 beneficiaries across Indonesia, from Jakarta and Aceh to Flores in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Vivin Arbianti Gautama, Chief Customer & Marketing Officer at Prudential Syariah, said meeting basic needs such as access to nutritious food is part of the company’s family protection efforts.
She added that the qurban programme is part of the company’s commitment to reach families across diverse social and economic backgrounds.
“The ‘One Qurban, Thousands of Blessings’ programme is a tangible expression of our ‘One That Protects’ philosophy, ensuring every family, regardless of economic status, has access to the best today and for their future,” said Vivin.
Prudential Syariah partnered with Dompet Dhuafa to implement the programme, with one cattle allocated per beneficiary community.
Target groups include operational support staff such as cleaners, office boys (OBs), drivers, and security personnel.
Additionally, female online motorcycle taxi drivers (lady ojol) who are family breadwinners are among the beneficiaries.
The programme also reaches communities in remote, border, and outermost areas (3T), including pesantren students, healthcare workers, mosque caretakers, orphanage residents, contract teachers, fishermen, and farmers in Ende, Flores.
