PRSI to hold polo event

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Swimming Federation (PRSI) will organize a water polo tournament to scout new talent and to prepare for the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

"We set up two teams, composed of players being groomed for the Games, to compete against 14 other teams," PRSI vice secretary-general Dadeng Kurnia was quoted as saying by Antara on Tuesday.

"Water polo does not yet have its own tryout program so we'll use the event to evaluate the performances of the players," he said.

Each team will comprise five starters and three substitutes, instead of the seven starters found in most water polo matches.

PRSI is targeting a bronze medal in water polo at the SEA Games, conceding that host Malaysia and Singapore are too strong to beat. (nvn)
