Jakarta, VIVA – Efforts for the permanent recovery following hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra are being accelerated, following the approval of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Master Plan (Renduk) by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) is urging Ministries and Agencies to submit and expedite the disbursement of budgets to ensure that recovery programmes can commence immediately on the ground.

The Chairman of the Sumatra Post-Disaster PRR Task Force, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that accelerating budget submissions is key to ensuring that the rehabilitation and reconstruction processes do not face delays. According to him, the government has prepared policy and budgetary support, meaning all ministries and agencies must act swiftly to follow up on recovery programme requirements.

“Please submit budget proposals to the Minister of Finance in accordance with the activities planned in the Master Plan. The sooner, the better, so that once the Ministry of Finance has transferred the funds, we can move more quickly with the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Sumatra disasters,” Tito stated in a briefing on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
