PRR Task Force Urges Local Governments to Maximise TKD for Disaster Mitigation in Sumatra
Tito stressed that the additional TKD provided by the government is a form of support for accelerating recovery as well as strengthening disaster mitigation in the region. ‘These additional TKD are provided as part of disaster response. Therefore I urge that they be used for mitigation and disaster response that are directly felt by the public,’ Tito said in a written statement on Friday, 22 May 2026. The government has disbursed an additional TKD amounting to Rp 10.6 trillion to the three affected provinces. The disbursement is being done in stages to accelerate regional liquidity. The first phase of Rp 4.38 trillion was disbursed on 27 February 2026, the second Rp 3.19 trillion on 31 March 2026, and the third Rp 3.06 trillion on 4 May 2026. Aggregate: Aceh received additional TKD of Rp 1.65 trillion, North Sumatra Rp 6.35 trillion, and West Sumatra Rp 2.63 trillion. All funds have been fully disbursed to the district/city governments in the form of additional Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH), General Allocation Fund (DAU), and Special Autonomy Funds (Otsus). According to Tito, the additional budget is expected to be used for priority needs such as river normalisation, landslide-prone road improvements, drainage strengthening, rehabilitation of public facilities, and preventive measures to reduce the risk of secondary disasters. Tito also stressed the importance of accelerating budget realisation in the region so that its benefits are felt by the public soon. Therefore, the PRR Task Force continues to monitor the preparation of activity plans and the issuing of regional head regulations (Perkada) as the basis for programme implementation on the ground. ‘I would like to express appreciation to the regions that have prepared activity plans and enacted Perkada. It only remains to be realised so that the benefits are felt by the public,’ Tito said. In addition to TKD utilisation, the PRR Task Force also oversees the inter-regional grant mechanism to assist heavily affected areas which receive relatively small additional budgets. Tito sees the spirit of inter-regional mutual cooperation as an important part of speeding up post-disaster recovery in Sumatra. ‘We want regions with greater capacity to help those more severely affected. This is part of the shared spirit to accelerate recovery,’ Tito closed.
