PRR Task Force to Oversee Rp 100.1 Trillion Post-Disaster Rehabilitation Plan for Sumatra
The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra will oversee the implementation of programmes set out in the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Master Plan (Renduk). Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian, who chairs the task force, affirmed that the government has allocated Rp 100.1 trillion for post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, targeted for completion in 2028.
The budget is earmarked for 32 ministries and agencies tasked with handling the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra. To date, the Ministry of Finance has approved budget proposals from seven of them.
Tito made the remarks after chairing a coordination meeting on permanent housing data collection, held in a hybrid format from the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday (21 July 2026).
“Therefore, these seven ministries and agencies must move quickly. Move forward, and then convey the details of what will be carried out in 2026,” Tito said in a written statement on Wednesday (22 July 2026).
He emphasised that the Satgas PRR will check the progress of the Renduk programme every week. This step is important to ensure the programme runs according to plan, including addressing any problems encountered.
At the same occasion, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait explained that the tender process for the construction of permanent housing (huntap) is already under way. Construction of the communal permanent housing managed by the Ministry of PKP will begin in September 2026.
However, he urged regional governments that have not yet prepared land for the huntap to do so promptly. This needs attention because several locations have not completed land acquisition for the permanent housing.
“We must not end up in a situation where the tender is finished but the land is not ready. That is not within our authority. Please help, Minister, so the land can be settled soon,” he said.
According to the data, the Ministry of PKP holds a budget of Rp 2.2 trillion to build 7,952 permanent homes spread across the three provinces affected by the Sumatra disaster. Each province receives allocations according to its needs: 6,220 units for Aceh, 919 units for North Sumatra, and 813 units for West Sumatra.
Meanwhile, Director of Distribution at PT PLN Arsyadany G. Akmalaputri expressed full support for the Ministry of PKP’s communal permanent housing construction plan. She said PLN will promptly prepare electricity networks at the huntap locations.
“Once the construction installations are ready, PLN will be connected immediately. Of course, this will be in collaboration with regional governments, BNPB, and the relevant ministries and agencies,” she said.
On the other hand, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) Apri Artoto explained that his ministry has received an additional budget of Rp 21.16 trillion to handle the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra.
“The budget will be used to repair and build infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and irrigation,” he concluded.
