PRR Task Force Surveys Padang Pariaman to Assess Disaster Damage

The Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, established by the central government, has surveyed Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, to gather data on infrastructure damage caused by disasters. Coordinator for the West Sumatra PRR Task Force, Brigadier General Pol Yopie Indra Sepang, stated in Padang on Tuesday that the survey was conducted by the team on Monday (10/8). “We went down to obtain real data, and as a result, a number of roads were found to be damaged due to the disaster in Padang Pariaman,” he said. He explained that the road damage occurred at five strategic points that are vital for community activities and serve as a link between Padang Pariaman Regency and Agam Regency. The details include four points on the Batu Basa-Batas Sungai Pingai road section and one point at Kelok Dama, Kudu Ganting. The damage was not only caused by the natural disaster that occurred on 3 August but is also a result of the Sumatra disaster in November 2025. “We saw firsthand schoolchildren having to cross the river on foot or by motorcycle because the road is damaged,” he explained. He said the deployment of the Sumatra Post-Disaster PRR Task Force to Padang Pariaman is a form of government concern for the affected areas, where the government is present to accelerate recovery. Every report and finding from the task force in the regions will be brought to the central government to find solutions and handling, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment. The Sumatra Post-Disaster PRR Task Force is a joint unit comprising personnel from the National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and various relevant ministries or agencies. Specifically for the Padang Pariaman area, the team was led by Brigadier General Pol Yopie Indra Sepang (West Sumatra Regional Coordinator), together with Colonel Inf Feksy Dimuri Angi and Police Grand Commissioner Dennie Andreas Dharmawan. Other members included Bripda Adriel Angkin Arisakti, Nurillah Utami from the National Disaster Management Agency, and Amalia Siti Rohmah from the Ministry of Public Works.
