PRR Task Force Reveals 94% of Regional Roads in Aceh Are Now Functional

The Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster continues to push for the acceleration of connectivity recovery in Aceh. One focus of the response is on the route connecting the Lokop area of East Aceh Regency with Gayo Lues Regency, which was affected by hydrometeorological disasters at the end of 2025. Repairs to roads and bridges along the route are being expedited so that community mobility, the distribution of essential goods, access to public services, and economic activities can return to normal. Several road segments that had been damaged again by subsequent floods are now passable by four-wheeled vehicles. Field progress is in line with the recovery of road infrastructure across Aceh. Based on the daily report from the National Command Post of the Satgas PRR as of 26 July 2026, all 46 affected national roads have been restored to functionality. For regional roads, 1,543 out of a total of 1,638 affected roads are now functional, representing approximately 94.20 percent. Meanwhile, 95 other regional roads remain the focus of the response so that community connectivity can be fully restored soon. The Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf, through Aceh Government Spokesperson Nurlis Effendi, affirmed that the disaster response is being carried out maximally and transparently to the public. Work developments in the field are continuously monitored through reports from the Aceh Regional Secretary, M. Nasir Syamaun. As part of this monitoring, the Aceh Regional Secretary tasked the Head of the Aceh Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, Mawardi, with directly inspecting the progress of road and bridge repairs in the Lokop area. The inspection results were also documented audiovisually to ensure that work progress can be reported in a measurable manner. In a field report on 18 July 2026, Mawardi stated that the construction of a Bailey Bridge is being accelerated and is targeted to begin functioning that week. The bridge, a collaboration between the Aceh Government and the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command, is the first of three bridges being handled on the East Aceh-Gayo Lues route. ‘We have been on site since early July 2026 after previously conducting a survey in March. We continue to accelerate the repairs so that community connectivity is restored immediately,’ Mawardi said in a written statement on Monday (27/7/2026). In addition to bridge construction, heavy equipment continues to be operated to repair damaged road segments and clear debris from subsequent floods. The response is directed not only at reopening access but also at providing safer connectivity that supports the community’s long-term needs. ‘Alongside infrastructure recovery, the PRR Task Force is also prioritising land rehabilitation, the provision of housing for affected residents, and the recovery of the economic sector so that the community can resume their lives safely and productively,’ he concluded.
