PRR Task Force Pushes Inter-Ministry Collaboration to Accelerate Post-Disaster Rehabilitation
The Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) is intensifying efforts to accelerate the implementation of permanent recovery programmes in areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra affected by hydrometeorological disasters. The push aims to ensure that impacted communities can swiftly benefit from rehabilitation and reconstruction after months of hardship.
The acceleration aligns with the beginning of budget realisations for rehabilitation and reconstruction from several ministries and agencies. As of mid-June 2026, institutions such as the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) have received budget allocations from the Ministry of Finance to support the implementation of recovery programmes on the ground.
Task Force Chairman Muhammad Tito Karnavian stressed that accelerating administration and budget disbursement must be a priority for all parties, as affected communities have waited long enough to resume normal life. "This week we are pushing ministries and agencies still working on proposals to submit them to the Ministry of Finance immediately. Do not delay. The disaster-stricken people do not want to suffer any longer. They have been suffering for seven months," Tito said in a statement on Tuesday (16/6/2026).
Tito added that ministries and agencies which have already received budget allocations must also move quickly to execute planned programmes. Simultaneously, the Task Force continues to push for the acceleration of the budget submission process for those still in the drafting or synchronisation phase of their activity proposals. "For those whose budgets have been disbursed by the Ministry of Finance, we push them to work. For those whose budgets have not yet been disbursed, we push the ministries and agencies to submit to the Ministry of Finance, and we push the Ministry of Finance to accelerate budget realisation to the ministries and agencies," Tito stated.
As part of strengthening programme control, the Task Force will also request detailed activity plans from every ministry and agency that has received funding. This step is taken to ensure all rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes run effectively, are on target, and do not overlap with provincial or district/city government programmes.
Furthermore, through daily coordination meetings, the Task Force continues to oversee the completion of ministry and agency activity plans so that the funding process can proceed on schedule. The Task Force will also establish regional coordinators in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and supervision functions for the implementation of recovery programmes in the field.
The acceleration efforts refer to the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra 2026-2028, established through the Decree of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Number 25 of 2026. This document serves as the primary guideline for ministries, agencies, and local governments in implementing integrated and sustainable recovery programmes.
With this acceleration, it is hoped that disaster survivors can soon obtain decent housing, permanently functioning infrastructure, optimal basic services, and opportunities to rebuild their lives and livelihoods in a better way.
