PRR Task Force Prepares 403 Infrastructure Packages in Sumatra
The Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR), through the Ministry of Public Works, is preparing 403 infrastructure work packages in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra throughout 2026.
The works are directed at restoring basic services, strengthening connectivity and delivering safer, more resilient infrastructure for communities affected by disasters.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Public Works Apri Artoto said the implementation of the hundreds of packages is supported by a supplementary budget of Rp 21.16 trillion. This additional budget reinforces the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programme so that recovery does not stop at temporary handling, but continues towards quality and sustainable development.
The budget has been allocated to four working units. The Directorate-General of Water Resources receives Rp 7.52 trillion, the Directorate-General of Highways Rp 6.73 trillion, the Directorate-General of Human Settlements Rp 4.02 trillion, and the Directorate-General of Strategic Infrastructure Rp 2.89 trillion.
In the water resources sector, the works include irrigation network rehabilitation, flood control, river normalisation, check dam construction and raw water provision. Meanwhile, the highways sector focuses on the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges to restore community access while supporting logistics movement and economic activity.
In the settlement sector, the Ministry of Public Works will rehabilitate drinking water supply systems, build boreholes, repair final processing sites and handle faecal sludge treatment installations. The construction of housing and the rehabilitation of health facilities, houses of worship, Islamic boarding schools and madrasahs form part of the strategic infrastructure response. He disclosed this at a coordination meeting on permanent housing development held at the Satgas PRR National Post, Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
“At this point it can be said that the recovery process is continuing, although there remains work that needs to be completed thoroughly. The next challenge is to ensure all programmes can be finished whilst improving quality so that they are more resilient and sustainable,” said Apri in a written statement on Thursday (23/7/2026).
As of 21 July 2026, financial realisation of the rehabilitation and reconstruction programme within the Ministry of Public Works had reached Rp 2.40 trillion, or 11.35 per cent of the total budget. Meanwhile, physical progress had reached 26.4 per cent of the 403 packages being implemented in the 2026 fiscal year.
According to him, this physical achievement shows that work in the field continues to move, although budget absorption still needs to be measurably accelerated.
“What has been achieved at present not only reflects implementation progress, but also serves as a tangible indicator of the state’s presence in post-disaster recovery,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Satgas PRR Muhammad Tito Karnavian said that besides being carried out by the Ministry of Public Works, some disaster-affected infrastructure recovery is also being undertaken by affected regional governments through additional Regional Transfers (TKD) totalling Rp 10.6 trillion, which has now been fully disbursed in three phases.
Tito stressed that he will continue to strengthen coordination across ministries, regional governments and technical implementers so that administrative obstacles, land readiness, design, procurement and field implementation can be resolved promptly.
“The acceleration is directed so that roads, bridges, irrigation networks, drinking water, housing and public facilities can be used by communities more quickly, without neglecting quality and governance,” Tito concluded.
