PRR Task Force Oversees Land Provision for 171 Families' Permanent Housing in Padang Pariaman
The Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) is facilitating the provision of land for permanent housing (Huntap) for 171 families affected by flash floods in Padang Pariaman Regency. A coordination meeting involving various ministries and stakeholders was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The meeting, led by National Post Head of Satgas PRR Police Inspector General Wahyu Bintono Hari Bawono, highlighted that land availability remains a major challenge in expediting the construction of permanent housing. The flash floods that struck in November 2025 damaged 1,136 housing units, comprising 268 lightly damaged, 87 moderately damaged, and 781 heavily damaged homes.
Temporary shelters (Huntara) have been established in two locations. In Korong Asam Pulau, 34 temporary units stand on 1.7 hectares of land owned by state electricity company PT PLN, where 74 families require permanent housing. The second site in Katapiang, located on land belonging to the Sumatera V River Basin Agency (BWS), hosts 40 temporary units, with 97 families still needing permanent residences.
Padang Pariaman Regent John Kenedy Azis expressed hope that the PLN and BWS land could be utilised for permanent housing, citing the local government’s limited budget for land acquisition. The Directorate General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works supported the use of BWS land in principle, pending verification of the area, coordinates, and land status before a grant mechanism can be processed.
PT PLN confirmed the land in Korong Asam Pulau is a company asset currently used for temporary shelters, though part of the area has potential disputes requiring further review. The company remains open to its use for permanent housing, subject to board approval. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also supported the plan, provided it does not disrupt hydroelectric power plant operations and respects the area’s status as a national vital object.
The meeting concluded with an agreement for all parties to support the acceleration of permanent housing construction in Padang Pariaman. The local government was instructed to promptly complete administrative documents, coordinate points, and submit formal applications to relevant agencies. Task Force head Wahyu Bintono stressed that the Satgas PRR will continue to oversee cross-ministerial coordination to expedite administrative processes so that construction can be realised swiftly for the affected communities.
