PRR Task Force Monitors Bridge and Embankment Construction Across Six Regions in Aceh
The acceleration of Sumatra’s recovery continues following the government’s establishment of the Master Plan for Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Renduk) for Sumatra. From 28 May to 2 June 2026, the Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) held coordination meetings and inspected several infrastructure construction sites across six regencies and cities in Aceh.
Imran, a representative of the PRR Task Force National Post, stated that the purpose of the activity was to observe the progress of rehabilitation and reconstruction on the ground, as well as to accelerate Sumatra’s recovery and synchronise handling between work units. The series of activities began on 28 May 2026, with an inspection of the Peureulak-Lokop route in East Aceh Regency to ensure community mobility remains functional following landslides. Subsequently, on 29 May, the team continued monitoring in Reje Payung Village, Linge District, Central Aceh Regency, while holding meetings with local governments regarding the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction.
During a visit on 2 June, the Aceh PRR Task Force, alongside BPJN Aceh, BWS Aceh, the BP2JK Lhokseumawe Regional Unit, and PT Adhi Karya, monitored the construction of river embankments, the rehabilitation of national roads, and the construction of permanent bridges at several affected points. In Pidie Regency, the team inspected the installation of boulders or retaining walls at Krueng Baro, Keumala District, spanning 252 metres. This work, under the responsibility of the Aceh River Basin Authority (BWS Aceh), has undergone subdrawing measurements and drone mapping.
In Pidie Jaya Regency, the installation of boulders at Krueng Meureudu, Pante Geulima area, spanning 375 metres, has been completed, while the remaining 625 metres is still in progress. Regarding the embankment repairs near the Meureudu Bridge in Pidie Jaya, spanning 621.2 metres, BPJN is currently working on both sides of the river. During the inspection, a proposal was made to increase the boulder installation from 100 metres to 200 metres, which will be discussed in further detail by relevant parties.
The team also inspected boulder installations for dam repairs at Pante Lhong, Bireuen Regency, spanning 425 metres, which is still under construction. Meanwhile, at Krueng Peusangan, stone materials for boulder installation are being prepared, with work scheduled to begin next week. For connecting infrastructure, the construction of the Kuta Blang Bridge at Krueng Tingkeum is ongoing. The casting of the central support pillar is currently underway, with the main phase targeted for completion by 23 June 2026. Imran noted that contracts for bridge construction on national roads will be processed in June, with work commencing in July.
The PRR Task Force also coordinated with the Commander of the Iskandar Muda Military Regional Command (Pangdam IM) regarding the accelerated completion of the suspension bridge in Reje Payung Village, Central Aceh. In a meeting on Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Commander stated that completion would be achieved after Eid al-Adha. According to the daily report of the PRR Task Force as of 4 June 2026, the construction of 261 emergency and pioneer bridges across Aceh is being pursued. Of this target, 142 units have been 100 per cent completed and are accessible to the public, consisting of 42 Bailey-type bridges, 84 Armco-type bridges, and 16 pioneer bridges. Seventeen Bailey bridges are currently under construction, with spans ranging from 30 to 90 metres, including vital routes in East Aceh and Central Aceh. Meanwhile, 20 Armco bridges are in progress, with locations spanning North Aceh, East Aceh, and Abdya, reaching up to 85 per cent completion. For pioneer bridges specifically, 83 units are still being pursued for completion by the TNI and Polri.
