Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) for Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, expressed the great attention of President Prabowo Subianto towards accelerating the handling of survivors as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction following the floods and landslides in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).

This was stated by Tito after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in performing Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 H/2026 with disaster-affected communities at Masjid Darussalam in the temporary housing complex (huntara), Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

Tito revealed that President Prabowo had long intended to perform Eid prayers with evacuees in the disaster areas, as the President wished to share a sense of solidarity in the Lebaran celebration with disaster evacuees in Sumatra.

“(Actually) there were several places we prepared, but he chose a place with evacuees, namely the mosque in the huntara built by Danantara. Alhamdulillah, we know everything went smoothly,” said Tito.

Tito stated that the presence of President Prabowo among disaster survivors during the Lebaran moment is proof that the President has not reduced attention to the development of rehabilitation in the three affected areas in the slightest, which are currently showing significant progress in various indicators.

“This is his extraordinary attention at a very sacred moment in the month of Ramadan, and he performed Eid al-Fitr prayers together with evacuees in Aceh Tamiang as a symbol,” said Tito.

According to Tito, President Prabowo always wants to make time to be present with post-disaster survivors during important community celebrations, as done by Prabowo when celebrating the 2026 New Year with post-disaster survivors in South Tapanuli Regency (Tapsel), North Sumatra.

On that occasion, Tito conveyed that President Prabowo also gave appreciation to all cross-sectors who have worked hard on rehabilitation and reconstruction in all sectors, so that the affected areas recover in terms of physical infrastructure, electricity, fuel supply, and basic services such as health and education facilities. In addition, the economic sector is marked by the revival of buying and selling activities in the market.

“He (President Prabowo) gave appreciation because it is approaching normality. We will continue to work to resolve some other issues, (such as) making roads, bridges, and rivers permanent that we must normalise, education facilities also need to be sorted out,” said Tito.
