Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that President Prabowo Subianto places great emphasis on handling survivors and rehabilitation, as well as reconstruction following the floods and landslides in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar) at the end of last year.

Tito confirmed this after accompanying the President in performing Eid al-Fitr 1447 H prayers with the community at Masjid Darussalam in the temporary housing complex (huntara), Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Tito revealed that Prabowo had long intended to pray with the refugees in the disaster areas. This reflects his solidarity, especially on special occasions like the Lebaran celebration.

“(Actually) there were several places we prepared, but he chose the place with the refugees, namely the mosque in the huntara built by Danantara. Alhamdulillah, we know, everything went smoothly,” Tito said.

According to Tito, the presence in Aceh Tamiang proves the President’s attention to the development of rehabilitation in the three affected areas, which are now showing significant progress in various sectors.

Previously, Prabowo also showed similar attention when celebrating the 2026 New Year with the community in South Tapanuli Regency (Tapsel), Sumut.

“This is his extraordinary attention at a very sacred moment in the month of Ramadan, and he performed Eid al-Fitr prayers together with the refugees in Aceh Tamiang as a symbol,” he said.

Tito added that Prabowo specifically appreciated the cross-sectoral synergy in carrying out rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, both in terms of physical infrastructure, electricity, fuel supply, and basic services such as health and education facilities. The economic sector is also beginning to revive with the resurgence of buying and selling activities in the markets.

“He (Prabowo) gave appreciation because it is approaching normality. We will continue to work to resolve some other issues, (such as) permanent roads, bridges, and rivers that must be normalised, education facilities also need to be fixed,” he stated.

As a follow-up step, the PRR Task Force will accelerate the relocation of the remaining refugees, which as of Saturday (21/3) number 26 households in Aceh Tamiang. At the same time, acceleration of rehabilitation of damaged ponds and rice fields is being carried out in several areas of Aceh, Sumut, to Sumbar.

“We will also work hard on the next process, namely permanent housing (huntap), both in-situ by BNPB and communal complexes. I have held meetings several times with the Minister of PKP. After Lebaran, we will execute it,” Tito concluded.
