The Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) following the Sumatra disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, accompanied President Prabowo Subianto on a working visit while celebrating Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 with disaster-affected communities in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh.

President Prabowo arrived in Aceh Tamiang on Saturday morning (21/3/2026), welcomed by Tito along with Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf at the Special Raider Infantry Battalion 111/Karma Bhakti.

Accompanying President Prabowo in Aceh were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, National Police Chief General (Pol) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak. President Prabowo had previously celebrated the night of takbiran with communities in North Sumatra.

The direct presence of the central government is part of efforts to ensure that disaster-affected communities can celebrate Eid in increasingly recovered and improved conditions.

This visit also continues the President’s attention to Aceh’s communities, including through the distribution of Rp72.75 billion in aid to support the Meugang tradition. The aid is used for procuring cattle distributed to 19 districts/cities, including disaster-affected areas.

Through this scheme, 3,042 villages in Aceh received aid allocations, with each village getting around Rp50 million for cattle purchases. This assistance not only keeps the Meugang tradition alive but also eases the burden on communities in meeting food needs ahead of Eid while stimulating the local economy.

“The main point is that 3,042 villages, their residents must get a share of beef,” Tito stated previously.

Tito emphasised that all government aid policies not only focus on humanitarian aspects but are also designed to encourage regional economic recovery. According to Tito, aid channelled directly to communities will increase purchasing power and stimulate local economic activities, especially in areas that have faced pressure due to disasters.

“If communities have purchasing power, they will shop. From there, the economy moves, markets come alive again, and economic growth can recover,” he said.

With a combination of social assistance, support for local traditions like Meugang, and accelerated housing development, the government hopes that disaster-affected communities can celebrate Eid al-Fitr in increasingly recovered conditions, both socially and economically.
