The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) following the Sumatra disaster has ensured that data for recipients of temporary housing (huntara) and housing waiting funds (DTH) is continuously updated. The door remains open for proposals for new recipients, including residents affected by hydrometeorological disasters in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Head of the Aceh Regional Post for Satgas PRR, Safrizal ZA, conveyed this while responding to a proposal for an additional 97 huntara units from the Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Armia Fahmi, in Aceh Besar on Tuesday (7 April). These huntara units are intended for residents who previously evacuated outside the area and are now returning to their places of origin.

“As long as there are people reporting a need for huntara according to the criteria, it will still be processed. It cannot be closed even if late; they are our people too,” he stated in a written release on Saturday (11 April).

He emphasised that although the proposal was submitted late, Satgas PRR will still process it, preceded by field verification. The team will check the condition of house damage and ensure land availability for huntara.

“The proposal for the Regent of Aceh Tamiang will be processed immediately; we will check it because it has been submitted by name and address, then we will match it with BPS data and NIK; those who are entitled will be built for immediately,” said the Director General of Regional Administration at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Safrizal added that Satgas PRR is also opening the same opportunity for other regional governments wishing to propose new DTH recipients. This step is taken to ensure no survivors are missed in the data collection.

Based on Satgas PRR data as of 9 April 2026, 18,678 huntara units out of a total of 20,378 have been completed in the three affected provinces, achieving 91% progress. In Aceh, 16,853 out of 18,524 units have been completed, or 90% progress.

In North Sumatra, 995 out of 1,024 units have been completed with 97% progress. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, all 830 planned units have been fully built, achieving 100%.

In addition to huntara, Satgas PRR is also distributing DTH to survivors who choose not to live in huntara. DTH assistance is provided at Rp600,000 per month for three months, so each family head receives a total of Rp1.8 million.

DTH distribution has reached 100% for 14,750 recipients in the three provinces. The details are: Aceh with 8,684 recipients, North Sumatra with 4,162 recipients, and West Sumatra with 1,904 recipients.

Previously, the Head of Satgas PRR for the Sumatra Post-Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that accelerating huntara construction is part of the strategy to quickly bring survivors to decent housing. However, he emphasised that permanent housing (huntap) construction must be the top priority.

“The establishment of permanent huntap must be the utmost priority because we certainly hope the community does not have to stay in huntara for too long; each one expects the government to build housing for their homes,” he said after the Coordination Meeting of the Satgas PRR Steering Team at the Complex of the Ministry of National Development Planning and Culture, Jakarta, on Monday (6 April).
