PRR Task Force Distributes Stimulus Funds for 31,000 Houses in Sumatra
The Post-Disaster Sumatra Acceleration Task Force for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR Task Force) has resumed distributing housing repair assistance to survivors whose homes were damaged by hydrometeorological disasters in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (West Sumatra). Progress in distribution is evident from the increasing weekly injection of housing repair stimulus funds to accelerate repairs for survivors’ lightly and moderately damaged homes. Based on PRR Task Force data as of 24 April 2026, significant assistance for lightly and moderately damaged homes has been disbursed in the three provinces. In Aceh, aid has reached 15,192 lightly damaged homes and 11,069 moderately damaged homes, with a total value of Rp559.95 billion. Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, assistance has been provided to 2,332 lightly damaged homes and 1,228 moderately damaged homes, totalling Rp71.82 billion. In West Sumatra, aid has been given to 811 lightly damaged homes and 375 moderately damaged homes, amounting to Rp23.415 billion. In total, Rp655.18 billion has been disbursed for repair stimulus covering 31,007 homes, continuing the phased distribution that reached Rp537.22 billion for 26,849 homes on 17 April 2026. Independent repairs Head of the PRR Task Force for Post-Disaster Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that housing repair assistance is provided directly to homeowners as stimulus funds so that communities can promptly repair their homes independently. The aid amounts to Rp15 million for lightly damaged homes and Rp30 million for moderately damaged ones. Additionally, to help survivors rebuild their lives, the government is also providing assistance in the form of Rp3 million for household setup and Rp5 million economic stimulus per family head. Other aid includes daily living guarantees (jadup) continuously disbursed by the government to ensure survivors’ basic daily needs, valued at Rp15,000 per person per day. “Initially, the Ministry of Social Affairs only provided for severely damaged homes. But I just conveyed to (Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf) that we help moderate and light damage as well. Finally, assistance was issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs,” Tito said after inspecting the temporary housing site in Tunyang Village, Timang Gajah, Bener Meriah, on Monday (20/4). This achievement in accelerating housing repair assistance distribution is being carried out in parallel with the construction of permanent housing (huntap) and temporary housing (huntara) to ensure decent accommodation for disaster survivors whose homes are severely damaged or lost. PRR Task Force data as of 24 April 2026 records that the projected need for huntap in the three affected provinces is 39,171 units. A total of 241 huntap units have been completed, with another 1,493 units under construction.
