Jakarta, VIVA – Tito Karnavian, head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra, has received five ambulances from the Indonesian Civil Servants’ Corps (Korpri). Tito confirmed the aid was handed over directly by the Head of the State Civil Service Agency (BKN), Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, at the Home Affairs Ministry on Monday, 13 July 2026.

“I would like to express my highest gratitude and appreciation to the Indonesian Civil Servants’ Corps, Korpri, which was attended directly and handed over directly by its chairman, Mr Zudan Arif Fakrulloh,” Tito told journalists at the Home Affairs Ministry office on Monday, 13 July 2026.

“This means a great deal, especially with the additional five ambulances from Korpri, which we will later distribute to communities in the disaster-affected areas,” he continued.

Tito added that the emergency response phase for the Sumatra disaster has now entered a transition period. After that, the rehabilitation and reconstruction stage will run until 2028.

“A great deal of work has been carried out, starting with the health sector, including the sector handled fastest by the team from the Health Minister. Community health centres and hospitals are already operational, and quite a large number of them — hundreds were affected previously,” he said.

Tito then explained that there are currently eight regencies in Aceh still affected by the disaster. These include East Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, Pidie Jaya, Bireuen, as well as Gayo Lues, Bener Meriah and Central Aceh.

“I am not dismissing other areas such as Nagan Raya and Southeast Aceh, but those eight regencies are receiving major attention,” Tito said.

Meanwhile, three regencies in North Sumatra remain a priority for the government out of the 19 affected areas. These include Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli and South Tapanuli.

“In West Sumatra, 16 of the 19 regencies/cities were affected. Many of the others have recovered well, but there are three we are giving special attention to: Agam Regency, Padang Pariaman and Tanah Datar,” he said.
