PRR Task Force Chief Urges Synchronisation of Post-Disaster Recovery in Sumatra
The Head of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Kasatgas PRR), Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has emphasised the importance of synchronisation. This synchronisation applies to all recovery programmes run by ministries, agencies, and local governments (pemda) to ensure no affected area or community need is left behind. According to Tito, data on activities by ministries, agencies, and local governments must be comprehensively collected and mapped so that rehabilitation and reconstruction implementation runs effectively. “The command post should request detailed activity plans from ministries and agencies that are part of the Task Force, both those whose budgets have been disbursed by the Ministry of Finance and those that have not. Also, local government activities for disaster recovery,” Tito said in a written statement on Friday (26/6/2026). “So we can check and synchronise them. There should be no overlapping or neglected areas,” he continued. The affirmation was delivered following monitoring, coordination, and consolidation activities by the PRR Task Force in several regions, including East Aceh Regency and North Aceh Regency, on Monday (22/6). The activities discussed the progress of utilising Transfers to Regions (TKD), Special Financial Assistance (BKK), paddy field recovery, infrastructure repairs, and the strengthening of the PRR Task Force Command Post at the regional level. In addition to programme synchronisation, Tito also requested that attention be given to several urgent community needs, particularly the construction of roads and bridges and the acceleration of permanent housing (huntap) development. “Urgent matters such as roads and bridges should also be discussed; the Minister of Public Works has already disbursed a budget of Rp 22 trillion from the Ministry of Finance, as well as permanent housing,” Tito stated. In East Aceh, the local government is currently finalising plans for the utilisation of TKD amounting to Rp 1.356 trillion and BKK amounting to Rp 52 billion originating from grants from Deli Serdang Regency, Padang City, and Pariaman City. The local government is targeting the completion of administrative processes by July so that realisation can be accelerated in August. Meanwhile, North Aceh Regency has TKD of Rp 1.6 trillion and has received inter-regional grants of Rp 32 billion from Simalungun Regency, Padang City, and Pariaman City. The PRR Task Force is encouraging the acceleration of regulatory harmonisation so that recovery programmes can be implemented promptly. In the agricultural sector, paddy field recovery continues to show progress. In East Aceh, repairs to lightly damaged paddy fields have reached 4,200 hectares or 66.6 percent, while 1,770 hectares of moderately damaged paddy fields have been fully completed. In North Aceh, progress on moderately damaged paddy fields has reached 99.5 percent. The PRR Task Force also highlighted the importance of accelerating irrigation network repairs ahead of the planting season in July. Local governments are urged to strengthen coordination with the River Basin Office (BWS) and related agencies so that restored land can quickly become productive again.
