Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) for Post-Disaster Sumatra, distributed 70,000 Qurans as a waqf from President Prabowo Subianto to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Province, West Sumatra (Sumbar), and North Sumatra (Sumut).

The waqf distribution took place symbolically during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Aceh Khanduri Nuzulul Quran Ramadan Festival at the Grand Baiturahman Mosque complex in Banda Aceh, Aceh, on Friday 6 March 2026.

On this occasion, Tito distributed approximately 5,620 Quran mushaf copies from the President to disaster-affected communities. The Qurans were provided alongside other worship equipment, including prayer garments, sarongs, and prayer mats.

Beyond Banda Aceh, packages of worship equipment including Qurans from President Prabowo have also been distributed to disaster-affected communities in several other districts and municipalities across Aceh Province.

The PRR Task Force reported that Aceh Tamiang received 600 Quran copies, North Aceh 300 copies, East Aceh 200 copies, Lhokseumawe 500 copies, Bireuen 100 copies, and Pidie Jaya 750 copies.

Assistance will not only be provided in Aceh but also to several districts and municipalities in West Sumatra and North Sumatra provinces.

“I ask that these be given to those who are deserving,” Tito emphasised.

In addition to worship equipment, he also channelled other assistance from third parties that includes thousands of items of clothing, blankets, and clothing materials for disaster-affected communities.
