PRR Task Force Chief Appreciates Ambulance Donation from Korpri for Sumatra

Minister of Home Affairs and Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has received a donation of five ambulances from the Indonesian Civil Service Corps (Korpri). The aid was handed over directly by the Head of the National Civil Service Agency and Chair of the Korpri National Board, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Jakarta on Monday (13/7).

Tito assessed that the assistance is very meaningful for communities affected by the Sumatra disaster. The five ambulances will be distributed to the affected areas: Aceh Tamiang Regency, East Aceh Regency, North Aceh Regency, Agam Regency, and Central Tapanuli Regency. Tito stated that the selection of these areas was based entirely on their continued need for serious attention in the recovery process, not to disregard other regions.

‘We will distribute these, and they will certainly be beneficial for the people there,’ Tito said. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh conveyed that Korpri has frequently provided various forms of aid to disaster-affected areas. ‘The largest contribution is these five ambulances, which we hand over to the Minister as the Task Force Head. We hope you will accept them and forward them to Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra,’ he stated.

Some of the affected areas have now passed the emergency response phase and entered a transitional recovery period towards rehabilitation and reconstruction. Tito added that the government, through the PRR Task Force, has undertaken various handling efforts, including in the health sector. ‘The health sector is among the fastest to be addressed by the team from the Ministry of Health. Community health centres and hospitals are already operational. Quite a number were affected, hundreds in fact,’ Tito concluded.
