Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Task Force for Accelerating Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) is accommodating a proposal for an additional 97 temporary housing units (huntara) from the Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Armia Fahmi, intended for residents who previously evacuated outside the area due to recent natural disasters.

“We received another letter from the Regent of Aceh Tamiang today requesting an additional 97 new huntara units,” said the Head of the Regional Post of the PRR Task Force, Safrizal ZA, in Aceh Besar on Tuesday.

Upon receiving the letter, he said, he questioned the reason for the additional proposal, which turned out to be for residents who had evacuated outside the area during the disaster.

“It turns out that during the disaster, the residents evacuated outside the area. When things were returning to normal, the residents reported back that they needed housing, so the regent proposed building houses for them again,” he explained.

However, as this is a new proposal, a field inspection will be conducted first, particularly regarding the construction sites for the huntara to ensure they are not in flood- or landslide-prone areas.

“This proposal for the Regent of Aceh Tamiang will be processed immediately; we’ll check it, as it has been submitted with names and addresses, then we’ll cross-check with BPS data and NIK. Those who are eligible will have their units built promptly,” he said.

Building the huntara, he added, would take at least three or four weeks.

Moreover, he noted, this requires effort from vendors, as raw materials are becoming scarce and iron prices are rising, leading to many requests for price adjustments.

“But if the unit prices change, it will require a longer process; we’ll just find vendors who can work with the standard prices set by BNPB,” he said.

On this occasion, he reiterated that if other areas still have shortages, such as in Aceh Tamiang—whether for huntara, housing wait funds (DTH), or other needs—they will continue to be accommodated even if delayed, as the programme is not closed.

“As long as there are residents reporting a need for huntara according to the criteria, it will still be processed. It can’t be closed even if late; they are our people too,” Safrizal ZA concluded.
