The Task Force (Satgas) for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Disaster Sumatra continues to distribute waiting housing funds (DTH) to survivors of hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar). The DTH assistance is given to survivors who are not living in temporary housing and are awaiting the construction of permanent housing. The amount of assistance provided reaches Rp 600,000 per month for three months, so each family head receives a total of Rp 1.8 million. Based on Satgas PRR data as of 27 April, the distribution of DTH in the three affected provinces has reached 19,023 recipients. The breakdown is 12,951 recipients in Aceh, 4,168 in Sumut, and 1,904 in Sumbar. The Head of Satgas PRR Post-Disaster Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that the DTH distribution will be adjusted to the duration of permanent housing (huntap) construction, which is estimated to take three to four months. Therefore, the assistance can be extended if the huntap construction is not yet complete. “If the huntap is not ready later, it will be given again for the next three months. So every three months until the huntap is finished,” said Tito in his statement on Tuesday (28/4/2026). He said this while inspecting huntara in Tunyang Village, Timang Gajah Subdistrict, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, on Monday (20/4). On the other hand, the progress of permanent housing construction continues to show improvement. As of 27 April, 241 huntap units have been completed from a total plan of 39,171 units, while 1,668 other units are still under construction. In Aceh, 104 huntap units have been completed from a plan of 29,026 units, with 820 units still under construction. In North Sumatra, 120 units have been completed from a target of 7,321 units, with 407 units still in process. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, 17 units have been completed from a total plan of 2,824 units, with 441 units still in the construction stage. In addition to accelerating huntap construction, the government is also continuing to build temporary housing (huntara) to ensure the need for decent shelter for survivors. As of 27 April 2026, 18,510 huntara units have been completed from a target of 20,151 units, equivalent to 91 percent progress. The Deputy Head of Satgas PRR, Suharyanto, emphasised that the government is not only building huntara for survivors who previously owned houses, but also for those who originally lived in rented houses. According to him, not a few survivors lost their place to live after their rented houses were damaged by floods. Therefore, the government is also building huntara for that group, as done in Sukajadi Village, Karang Baru Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency. “Here, the community previously did not have houses and rented places to live. When hit by floods, the rented houses were destroyed, they were confused where to go,” said Suharyanto while inspecting the progress of huntara at the location on Wednesday (22/4).
