PRR Task Force Accelerates Construction of Permanent Housing in 3 Affected Provinces, Decent Housing Gradually Fulfilled
The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster continues to expedite the construction of permanent housing (huntap) and temporary housing (huntara). This is being done to ensure that decent housing is provided for survivors of the hydro-meteorological disaster in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar). Based on Satgas PRR data as of 13 April 2026, the number of completed huntap units in the three affected provinces has reached 247 out of a total of 39,024 units. Meanwhile, another 1,243 units are still under construction. Aceh Province has recorded 104 out of 28,871 huntap units completed, while 395 units are still under construction. The acceleration of huntap construction is running in parallel with the completion of huntara. As of 13 April, the total huntara completed stands at 18,997 out of 20,477 units, or equivalent to 92 percent. This achievement shows an improvement compared to data as of 9 April 2026, which recorded 1,240 units still under construction. Meanwhile, huntara construction at that time had reached 18,678 out of 20,378 units, or about 90 percent. In addition to housing construction, Satgas PRR is also distributing housing waiting funds (DTH) to survivors who are not living in huntara. This assistance is provided at Rp600,000 per month for three months, so each family head receives a total of Rp1.8 million. Satgas PRR Chair Muhammad Tito Karnavian emphasised that accelerating huntap construction is a top priority so that survivors do not stay too long in huntara. βThe establishment of huntap must be the utmost priority, because we hope the community does not need to stay too long in huntara,β Tito said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The statement was made by Tito after the Coordinating Meeting of the Satgas PRR Advisory Team at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) Complex in Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026). Nevertheless, Tito revealed that accelerating huntap construction greatly depends on the completeness and speed of data collection from local governments (pemda). Therefore, coordination and data validation are the main keys in ensuring that every survivor receives targeted decent housing.
