PRR Task Force Accelerates Completion of Support Facilities for Permanent Housing in Aceh Tamiang
The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Task Force for Sumatra is accelerating the provision of public facilities and utilities in the permanent housing (huntap) area of Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh. This effort is being made so that the completed houses can be immediately occupied by disaster-affected communities.
Based on the results of a special monitoring and evaluation (monev) conducted by the PRR Task Force on Wednesday (5/8), the land requirement for huntap construction in Aceh Tamiang has been 100 percent fulfilled. A total of 25 locations covering an area of 129.8 hectares have been made available and are planned to become a residential area for around 4,159 families.
The fulfilment of the land requirement marks significant progress in accelerating housing sector recovery. With this, construction can now focus on completing the housing units and the basic infrastructure needed for the community to live safely and decently.
In the Huntap Buddha Tzu Chi area, 108 of the planned 490 units have been completed and handed over. However, these units cannot yet be occupied because the construction of public facilities, which is supported by the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government, is still ongoing. Meanwhile, the construction of 250 huntap units by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has been 100 percent completed.
‘The availability of land for the Huntap has been fulfilled so it is no longer an obstacle to construction. However, the utilisation of Huntap Buddha Tzu Chi is not yet optimal because the public facilities have not been completed,’ said Deputy Head of the PRR National Post, Air Vice Marshal TNI Ridha Hermawan, in a statement on Thursday (6/8/2026).
Ridha noted that this condition is a concern for the PRR Task Force because the completion of house construction must go hand in hand with the availability of public facilities, social facilities, and basic utilities. The Aceh Tamiang Regency Government and related agencies are therefore encouraged to accelerate the supporting works so that the huntap can immediately benefit the community.
‘The Aceh Tamiang Regency Government and related agencies should accelerate the completion of public facilities and supporting utilities in the Huntap Buddha Tzu Chi area so that the completed units can be occupied immediately,’ said Ridha.
The PRR Task Force is also paying attention to village government offices, known as Datok Penghulu, which were heavily damaged by the disaster. The regional government is encouraged to optimise the use of the Transfer to Regions (TKD) budget to accelerate the repair of these facilities so that government services to the community can resume optimally.
The monitoring and evaluation results show that recovery in Aceh Tamiang continues to progress, particularly with the fulfilment of huntap land, the completion of hundreds of housing units, and the restoration of agricultural land.
The PRR Task Force will also continue to oversee the resolution of remaining obstacles. This is to ensure that recovery is not only reflected in construction progress but also results in the restoration of housing, public services, and the lives of affected communities.
